Picking up from where I left off when sharing this in the Cardiac Arrest section. Over the course of weeks, he went through the healing regime of this condition. He went through the debridement (the process of removing nonliving tissue from pressure ulcers, burns, and other wounds). This was done to speed up the healing process. I am not sure how they did it but they removed all of the dark, dead skin and tissue and he had an appligraft.
Now an appligraft, according to Apligraft’s website, is “is a unique, advanced treatment for healing. It is created from cells found in healthy human skin. “When healthy skin gets wounded, the proteins and growth factors in the skin stimulate the body to regenerate new skin. This is the normal wound healing process.”
The appligraft in either the pictures or video that is being applied to Qadar’s leg is that thin piece of Yellow cloth-like thingy. Prior to having that applied the nurses would have to clean the area prior to applying it.
When we were eventually discharged to Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) I would do wet-to-dry dressing changes on it. Lookie there, Qadar made a home health aid out of his mother.
Check back shortly for footage from this condition.
